covid-19
Dec. 2019 - the virus was first found in the Chinese province of Wuhan at a “wet market” where live animals are sold - dogs, cats, bats, rats, wolf, peacock, alligator, monkeys, pangolin, along with pre-cooked animals. Eating these is seen as "strengthening" to some Chinese people. These are ancient primitive superstitious beliefs.
A virus is a living thing. A bug. It lives and breeds and grows. Fast. It adapts. Like the flu bug. Its unpredictable. The covid bug is new. Our bodies have not seen it before which makes it more dangerous.
Scientists believe it came from a bat virus that crossed over to humans in close contact with live animals with the virus. The virus has never been seen previously. Like the Aids/HIV virus it is unique. There is no vaccine. It attacks the lungs and respiratory system. It begins with a fever (high temperature) and dry cough. It spreads on contact with surfaces - door handles, sneezing, spit, handshakes, coughing. It sits on surfaces. it lives there for up to 48 hours where it can then be picked up by an uninfected person. Its invisible. It washes off with simple soap and water. Wear gloves. Do not touch face with gloves. Remove gloves after washing hands with gloves on. Keep a distance from others. Keeping a distance is more useful than wearing a mask.
